Gilgameschin is an interdisciplinary dance and art performance dealing with an ancient literary tradition of mankind, the epic of Gilgamesh.

We are attempting to emphasize the psychological development of Gilgamesh in becoming more and more human according to an everyday life environment and to reinterpret the emerging set of topics by dance, music, and visual art.

The basic starting point of this performance are the artists themselves and the idea of fluxion between the different branches from which this piece of art is compound of. The premiere is going to take place in the "Ehrenhof" Düsseldorf in front of the museum kunst palast on May 19th 2006. In order to comprise the human being in his everyday occurrence into the performance the project was planed as an outdoor-performance. The public becomes awareness of that functionally modified public place into a new context of arts' representation.

The project is kindly supported by the Department of Culture of the State Capital City of Düsseldorf (Kulturamt Landeshauptstadt) and the Carl Richard Montag Foundation for Youth and Society.

Gilgameschin has already been performed as a "work in progress" in September 2005 in the Theater Garage in Antwerpen/ Belgium. Within the performance series Kontext ist Sozialästhetik, sponsored by the Carl Richard Montag Foundation, there was already a pre-premiere in the"Alte Feuerwache" Cologne on March 3rd 2006.
